Hilda Edith McIntyre
May 21 1924 - April 9th 2008
Hilda passed away in the arms of her husband Ben in their home in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island following a long and courageous battle with cancer and heart disease. Hilda loved the north. She spent 5 years working in Yellowknife in the 1940's before leaving for Vancouver. She returned north to Uranium City in 1953. There she established a coffee shop called Uranium Billiards Confectionery. In 1957 she and Ben opened a shoe store which grew to be McIntyre Shoes and Clothing. In 1979 they moved to Vancouver Island where Hilda enjoyed her passion for golf. Hilda did not suffer fools gladly but if you were her friend, and she had many, she was fiercely loyal.
I miss her very much.
